Fiona Wake

Fiona is the Senior Director of Clinical Excellence and Patient Safety for Northern Territory (NT) Health. She provides strategic direction and leadership to the organisation, implementing a culture of continuous learning, quality improvement and innovation. She leads the NT Safety and Quality agenda, ensuring prioritisation of clinical safety and quality improvement systems in the care of Northern Territorians. In her previous role as Safety and Quality Manager for Top End NT, Fiona led the operational implementation of Safety and Quality activities including the accreditation of all its remote, prison health, urban and other services.

Fiona has over 30 years of qualifications and experience across acute and primary health care settings. She has dedicated over 15 years on primary health care in the NT, working with government and non-government organisations to improve patient outcomes and quality of care. This experience has enabled her to develop an extensive understanding of the challenges and issues health professionals face in daily practice, as well as the overall challenges of the remote clinical and cultural setting.
